James ‘Doc’ Irey is a tighthead prop from Orlando, Florida. Irey has been with the Gold since 2019; before then, he played for New Orleans RFC, as well as a series of other clubs including the Norfolk Blues, Capital Selects, USA Rugby South Panthers, and Savages RFC. Having joined the Navy in 2005, Irey also has playing experience with the ALL Navy Sevens as well as the Combined Sea Services. His rugby acumen is a product of not only playing experience but coaching experience as well. He was the head coach of the New Orleans Rugby Club and the Robert Merkel Champions Krewe Rugby Club.
