Summary


NOLA Gold Rugby is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Event & Operations Manager to oversee all events, both in and out of season, and manage game-day operations. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth execution of events, coordinate game-day logistics, and foster collaborative partnerships with clients for events. They must be able to manage staff, facilities, and resources efficiently, and have a passion for sports event management.

Responsibilities


Event Management (In-Season and Off-Season)

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all NOLA Gold Rugby events, including game-day events, fan engagements, VIP receptions, and special promotions.
  • Organize and oversee non-game events, such as community outreach, corporate events, and sponsorship activations.
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, and partnership teams to ensure all events meet strategic goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, sponsors, and external event partners.

Game-Day Operations

  • Oversee all game-day operations, including staffing, facilities management, and coordination with stadium partners.
  • Manage the setup and breakdown of all game-day activations, including fan zones, hospitality areas, merchandise stands, and sponsor booths.
  • Ensure all aspects of the matchday experience run smoothly, from ticketing to crowd management to post-match activities.
  • Lead game-day staff and ensure communication is clear between departments (security, facilities, promotions, etc.).

Collaboration & Client Management

  • Work with potential clients and partners to plan and execute collaborative events, maximizing exposure for the NOLA Gold brand.
  • Organize group events such as corporate outings, charity fundraisers, and community initiatives in conjunction with sponsors or local organizations.

Staff & Facility Management

  • Manage and train game-day staff, ensuring all are equipped to handle event operations and provide excellent customer service.
  • Coordinate with venue staff for facility use, ensuring that all operational needs are met for each event.
  • Develop and implement a plan to streamline game-day operations, improving efficiency and fan experience.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all local and state regulations regarding safety and crowd control.
  • Manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Explore opportunities to expand the NOLA Gold event portfolio, including participation in local festivals, corporate events, and sports showcases.
  • Lead post-event evaluations to assess success and areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Sports Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in event management, operations, or a similar role in sports or entertainment industries.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute large-scale events, including budgeting and resource management.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of rugby or passion for sports is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays during game seasons.
  • Proficiency in event management software and tools.

Compensation Package


Salary

  • Base Salary: $55,000 per year (depending on experience)

Bonus

  • Performance-Based Bonus: Up to 10-12% of annual salary based on successful event execution

Job Purpose


To develop and implement strategies and programs to increase participation in rugby at all levels within the New Orleans region and Louisiana State. To support the growth of the game through schools, clubs, and community engagement, and to assist in the overall development of the NOLA Gold Rugby team and its outreach programs.

Key Responsibilities


Program Development and Implementation

  • Develop and implement long-term strategies to grow rugby participation across all levels, from grassroots to youth elite programs.
  • Develop and deliver rugby programs for schools, clubs, and community groups.
  • Organize and run coaching clinics, training sessions, and development camps.
  • Ensure all programs are inclusive and cater to different skill levels.

Community Engagement

  • Build relationships with local schools, clubs, and community organizations.
  • Promote rugby and the NOLA Gold brand through community events and activities.
  • Work with marketing teams to raise the profile of rugby in the region.

Coaching and Mentoring

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to local rugby coaches and volunteers.
  • Develop and deliver educational resources and workshops for coaches and players.
  • Assist in the identification and development of talent (coaches and players) within the region.

Administration and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of program participation and outcomes.
  • Prepare regular reports on program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in the management of budgets and resources allocated for development programs.

Partnership and Sponsorship Development

  • Collaborate with external governing bodies and community organizations to enhance the development of rugby in the region.

Pathway Development

  • Work with local and national rugby bodies to ensure smooth transitions for high-potential players.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and rugby governing body guidelines.
  • Promote a safe and respectful environment for all participants.

Key Skills and Experience


Qualifications

  • Relevant coaching qualifications (e.g., World Rugby Level 1 or 2).
  • Degree in sports management, physical education, or a related field (preferred).

Experience

  • Experience in rugby coaching and development at various levels.
  • Proven track record in community sports development and engagement.
  • Experience working with schools, clubs, and community organizations.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions


Full-time position with regular evening and weekend work required to support events, youth sessions, coaching sessions, and meetings.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Ticket Sales Team and Sponsorship to increase group sales and partnerships by developing and implementing innovative activation strategies and improving touchpoint processes.

  • Aid in prospecting and identify new sales opportunities to expand the fan base.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute successful department events, including theme nights and promotional activities.
  • Foster strong relationships between the Ticket Sales and Marketing departments to ensure seamless execution of sponsorships and other promotional initiatives.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by managing fan experience bookings and resolving customer inquiries.
  • Create and execute engaging in-game promotions and concourse activations during NOLA Gold home games.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in retail and e-commerce management, a passion for sports, and the ability to develop and execute strategies that drive revenue growth.

Responsibilities


Team Store

  • Set and achieve new game record sales targets.

E-Commerce

  • Set and achieve new game record sales targets online.
  • Aim for overall sales improvement of 20% compared to last year.
  • Increase profit margins, ensuring they do not fall below 2.2 per product.
  • Allocate 5% of monthly sales revenue for online acquisition (ads) to boost sales.
  • Collaborate with the email marketing team to enhance visibility and engagement.
  • Explore partnerships to sell our products on other online platforms.

Private NOLA Gold Label

  • Develop and launch a NOLA Gold Collection, including Men’s, Women’s, Kids’, and Accessories lines.
  • Start with a basic collection and expand it over the season.
  • Focus on creating high-margin products and reducing dependency on league partners for timing and delivery.
  • Collaborate with suppliers for cost-effective production, leveraging partner relationships for better pricing.

Team Street/Events

  • Identify and participate in events where a NOLA Gold booth or trailer can be set up to sell products and promote the brand.
  • Engage in markets, festivals, and special events.
  • Coordinate with the team store staff to manage these events.

Retail Opportunities

  • Explore and establish retail partnerships in New Orleans.
  • Identify potential sports stores, tourist stores, airport shops, and other retail locations to sell NOLA Gold products.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in retail and e-commerce management.
  • Proven ability to drive sales and profitability.
  • Strong understanding of online marketing and e-commerce strategies.

Compensation Package


Salary
