High School Championship after Gold Match Sunday
METAIRIE, LA—After the NOLA Gold vs Toronto Arrows match, Brother Martin and St. Paul’s will face off for the Louisiana High School Rugby Championship title at the Gold Mine. Tickets to the Gold match cover admission to both events.
The NOLA Gold vs Toronto Arrows match will take place on Sunday, May 2 at 12:00 pm. After the match, at 2:00 pm, Brother Martin and St. Paul’s will face off for the Louisiana High School Rugby Championship title.
During the halftime festivities at the Gold-Arrows match, Louisiana’s all-star high school rugby team will be announced.
The Toronto Arrows—the one international team in the MLR—have been playing out of Atlanta’s stadium for their “home” matchups due to the league’s coronavirus policy, and international travel restrictions.
NOLA Gold Captain—and former Canadian national team member—Kyle Baillie had this to say about facing off against his old teammates:
“Looking forward to a battle against the Arrows this weekend. Our guys have been putting in the work, [and] making the adjustments needed to come out flying on Sunday. Tons of energy and belief in what we are working for as a team…excited to rip into it again against some friendly faces.”
The Gold lost their first away game of the season this past weekend, losing to Rugby ATL 28-38 at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. Toronto faced Rugby United New York over the weekend, winning the matchup 53-12.
