New Orleans, LA – NOLA Gold Rugby, the premier professional rugby team in New Orleans, is proud to announce the selection of sixteen talented local high school players from Central Lafouche High School,Warren Easton High School, Jesuit High School, and Brother Martin High School to participate in an exclusive training opportunity overseas. From June 18th to July 2nd, these promising athletes will travel to train with the esteemed ASM Clermont academy squad in France.
During their two-week training program, the selected players will have the unique privilege of staying with French families associated with ASM Clermont. This immersive experience will provide them with an unparalleled cultural exchange, allowing them to gain valuable insights into the world of professional rugby.
The training sessions will take place at the Michelin Stadium, boasting a capacity of 20,000 seats. This state-of-the-art facility is renowned for nurturing and developing top rugby talent. The players will receive top-notch coaching from current rostered players, honing their skills and broadening their understanding of the game.
NOLA Gold Rugby is proud to support the development of local talent by offering scholarships to a few players through the NOLA Gold Foundation, enabling them to further their knowledge of the game.
The primary objective of this collaboration between NOLA Gold Rugby and its partner ASM Clermont, is to expand and grow the game of rugby in America. By exposing young players to international training environments and competition, both teams hope to elevate the level of play in the United States. Furthermore, this endeavor seeks to provide the participating athletes with a potential pathway toward professional rugby careers right in their home city of New Orleans.
