NOLA GOLD is back in the win column after a massive result against Anthem RC. NOLA soundly beat Anthem RC with a final score of 40-5.
Anthem RC scored the game’s first points with a massive field-length try from David Still, but that’s where the good news ended for the team in blue. Thereafter, a GOLDen wave of attacking ingenuity washed over the game, with a slew of try-scorers joining the stat sheet. Rodney Iona struck first, followed by Dorian Jones, and capped off by Ross Depperschmidt right before halftime to give NOLA a commanding 26-5 lead going into the break. With four tries scored, NOLA secured a bonus point before the halftime whistle blew.
It was an exercise in liquidation and conversion in the second half. NOLA needed to prove that they could see out a victory without any second-half trouble, and that’s precisely what they did. The GOLD added two more tries in the second forty minutes, courtesy of Taniela Filimone, a human spark plug positioned at #14. Defensively, the GOLD held firm and pitched a second-half shutout.
This strong showing was exactly what NOLA needed to get back on track in a fierce Eastern Conference. Next is the Seattle Seawolves at the Gold Mine on Saturday, May 11th.
