For the third time this season, a NOLA Gold player secures MLR Player of the Week honors (Week 2, Taylor Howden; Week 3, JP Eloff). This week, MLR rookie Nicholas Feakes gets the nod as he helped the Gold grind out a narrow victory at Zions Bank Stadium this weekend against the Utah Warriors. Scoring 15 points and all of the Gold’s tries, Nicholas has the first Hat Trick of the 2019 MLR season.
Under snowy conditions, Nick dove into the try zone in the 27th minute with the Gold trailing 14-6. His second try came as the clock passed the half-time mark which gave the Gold their first lead of the game. With mere seconds on the game clock and the Gold trailing 19-16, he found pay dirt for the third time giving NOLA the lead and securing a victory.
Next up, the NOLA Gold take on the Houston Sabercats (1-0-3) at Constellation Field on March 16 at 7 p.m. The Gold then return home on March 23 to face off against Austin Elite (0-0-5).
