Once again, an Atlanta sports team is coming down to New Orleans. This time it will be Rugby ATL hoping to have better success than most Atlanta teams as they take on NOLA Gold on Sunday Feb. 16 at 5 p.m.
NOLA Gold is coming off a dominating 46-13 win over Old Glory DC, but Rugby ATL is coming of their own win. Atlanta won the first game in their franchise history, taking down the Utah Warriors 28-19.
New Orleans and Atlanta sports have a long and storied history and the Gold are well aware of that.
“Atlanta is a new team but they are going to be a huge rival for us,” Head Coach Nathan Osborne said. “We understand the relationship between New Orleans and Atlanta in every other sport, and in general, just in public. We are excited to bring them down here.”
With the new conferences that were created over the offseason, it makes ever conference game more significant, and that wasn’t lost on Osborne.
“They are an inter-division team and that’s huge for us,” Osborne said. “Having two inter-division games right back to back and getting two wins is a massive start for us. We don’t really what’s happening in the west, we just want to win the east and roll on through.”
Pregame festivities in the Tailgate Village begin at 3 p.m. for all ticket holders.
