29-year-old Australian back Robbie Coleman joins the NOLA Gold after signing a 3-year deal.
“We are proud to welcome Robbie Coleman to our NOLA Gold Family,” said General Manager, Ryan Fitzgerald.
“With 80 games in Super Rugby and 17 tries, Robbie clearly has the experience, toughness and game-changing ability, but most importantly, he brings with him a high level of professionalism.”
Coleman most notably spent time with the ACT Brumbies of Super Rugby from 2010-16. In 2014, Coleman was the equal-top try-scorer for the Brumbies, scoring eight tries.
After leaving the Brumbies, Coleman was signed to the Western Force (Super Rugby), and was then loaned to the French club, Narbonne of the Federale 1 League, prior to signing with the Gold.
Coleman went to school at St. Edmunds College in Canberra and additionally spent time with the Canberra Vikings of the National Rugby Championship.
“Robbie is a total team guy and throughout the entire recruiting process, his passion has been evident. He will be a great fit into our culture of ‘playing for the guy next to you,'” Fitzgerald said.
Coleman brings versatility to the Gold backline and has experience starting at fly-half, inside center, fullback and on the edge at wing.
Originally from Queanbeyan, Australia, Coleman was the 2010 Australian U-20 Player of the Year in 2010 and also helped the Australian seven’s team take silver at the Commonwealth Games the same year.
Coleman brings added experience and depth to the Gold backline that will feature Carl Meyer, Tristan Blewett, JP Eloff, Scott Gale, Con Foley, Nick Feakes and Jojo Tikoisuva.
