Loosehead prop Hubert Buydens and winger Tim Maupin made Major League Rugby’s First XV roster for their exceptional play against Rugby United New York in Week 18.
Maupin was all over the field for the Gold in his 69 minutes of play at MCU park on Sunday. The 30-year-old winger led the Gold with a team-high 12 carries and 126 meters. In the 21st minute, the Gold fed the ball in off their line out and center Con Foley made a quick pop to Maupin who cruised past the RUNY defense on the way for a try that put the Gold up 15-7.
Maupin also had one tackle break and recorded a line break to pair with three tackles and one kick for 51 meters to help the Gold’s defense.
This is the second time Maupin has made the MLR’s First XV roster this year.
Buydens carried the ball six times for 22 meters, with an offload on offense and added 12 tackles defensively in 57 minutes of play.
This is the first time the 37-year-old Canadian has made the league’s First XV this season.
The Gold travel to San Diego this Sunday, June 2nd to face the top-ranked Legion in hopes of securing a playoff spot.
