Before you head to the pitch, get to know NOLA Gold Rugby
The New Orleans Rugby Football Club (NORFC) was established in 1973. Since the team’s creation, they have become a stand-out for U.S. rugby in the Deep South, creating an outstanding example both on and off the pitch. NOLA Gold has built off the successes of NORFC and entered its next measure of competition at the highest level of rugby in the USA: Major League Rugby.
NOLA Gold has brought professional rugby to New Orleans and is the pinnacle of the sport in the American South East. We are continuing to develop local, national, and international talent to a world-class level of play and professionalism. We are striving to deliver an exciting on-field product and great fan experience. All while providing an aspirational destination for young rugby athletes and rugby fans.
Growing the game of rugby is integral to our mission. We are partnering with clubs throughout the region in order to lead and expand the development rugby in the region. Through the NOLA Gold Foundation, in cooperation with Louisiana Rugby, we aim to create valuable partnerships that will introduce and develop youth rugby in the region.
Rugby has tremendous power to effect change in young people’s lives. The NOLA Gold Foundation will also integrate an outreach program for at-risk youth; providing them a positive integration and opportunity through rugby.
Message from team owner: Tim Falcon
NOLA Gold Family
As the Founder of NOLA Gold, I realize this team cannot exist without you. You and I are co-owners of this great opportunity – to grow the Gold and all rugby in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. Your investments of time at the games, funds through the purchase of tickets and merchandise, and excitement by spreading the NOLA Gold word are invaluable to our Mission. The players realize it is you, the fans, who pay their salaries. The players work hard to give you a great return. Thank you to all of you who were there with us for our inaugural Major League Rugby season.
You can help us grow rugby from youth to vieux garçons (old boys). The Gold are committed to re-investing in our community. We are working with Louisiana Rugby and Laureus for Sport Foundations to build a pilot program in New Orleans that will get more youth playing rugby. We will also use rugby as a means for helping at-risk kids change their lives for the better. Our spokesman, John Goodman, is on board to help.
This program will give these young people a chance to be a part of our great rugby community; a community that cares about them, gives them a shot to be a professional athlete, and the opportunity to go to college. We are working on a partnership with the Louisiana Air National Guard to provide 100% college tuition while playing rugby. This program will also be an additional source of income for our players as they work as mentors and coaches in our youth program.
Be a part of NOLA Gold family and help NOLA Gold remain strong for year two of Major League Rugby.
There will be seven home MLR games in 2019 with the season starting the weekend of January 27, 2019. We will be playing in optimal weather for New Orleans. Our staff from GM and head coach to the distinguished field committee are working hard already, learning from year one to improve the Gold and your game day experience. We look forward to working with you to make us all champions!
