Aaron Matthews is a midfielder from Irvine, California. Acquired from the Seawolves before last season, Matthews played in 8 matches in 2022. In high school, he was an All-American rugby player and was eventually selected for Team USA for the Youth Olympics in Sevens in Nanjing, China. He was also a USA age-grade player for the U17s, HSAAs, U20s, and MCAAs. While playing at Saint Mary’s College of California, he was a collegiate All-American honorable mention in 2017, a Scholz Award Finalist in 2019, an All-American in 2019, and an honorable mention for All-America Sevens in 2019. He was also named for the SMC Leadership Award and was an All-Conference selection in 2019-2020.
