Week 12: Dolan, Eloff and Blewett make First XV roster

No. 8 Cam Dolan, outside center Tristan Blewett and fullback JP Eloff all made the Major League Rugby’s First XV roster for their performances in Week 12.

All three players scored to help the Gold overcome the Utah Warriors in their 28-19 win.

Tristan Blewett opened the Gold’s scoring in the second minute when he picked off a pass and took it back for his eighth try of the season. It was also his third interception for a try this season.

Blewett finished the game with five carries for 116 meters with one try, one line break, two offloads, including a try-assist and 11 tackles.

Lastly, vice-captain Eloff scored the Gold’s third try of the day, and the eventual game-winning score after Blewett made a line break and offloaded to him, before he ran in for the score in the 54th minute.

Eloff ended the game with 13 points, seven carries for 72 meters with one try, one line break, two offloads and two tackles.

Eloff’s 35 conversions are an MLR-best through 12 weeks and he also sits in second place in the league with 111 total points.

No. 1 NOLA Gold (8-2, 43 points) travels on the road to face the No. 2 Seattle Seawolves (7-3, 37 points) on Sunday, April 21 at 9:00 p.m., airing on CBS Sports Network.
