MATT HARMON REACHES 50 CAPS
On Sunday April 30th, Matt Harmon became the forty-fifth player in Major League Rugby to appear in 50 matches.
Matt (Gold #39) began playing rugby, rather famously, after being in detention while in middle school. He would play for the Lake Forest Harriers, winning two Illinois State Championships in 2012 and 2013.

He attended the University of Kansas and became Captain of the Jayhawks in 2015. He transferred to Life University, where he was selected as a Collegiate All-American and won the D1A National Championship in 2018. Following that season, he was selected for the Collegiate All American camp and earned selection for the Collegiate All Americans Vs. Glendale Raptors. Later that fall, he played for the Life University Senior Club team in the American Rugby Premiership. He joined NOLA Gold ahead of the MLR 2019 season.
Matt made his debut for the United States ( Eagle #541) against England on July 4th, 2021, at Twickenham. He has made five test appearances for his country.
Ahead of today’s match in his MLR Career, he’s made 145 carries, has 715 meters run, made 302 tackles, and has 542 ruck arrivals.
Major League Rugby is honoring the first 50 players to reach 50 caps and their role in building the legacy of MLR. The latest of the first forty-five players to accomplish 50 caps for MLR includes Brad Tucker of the Rugby New York Ironworkers, Paul Mullen of the Utah Warriors, and Peter Malcom of the Seattle Seawolves.
