The Free Jacks have been dangerous on offense this year, being tied with the San Diego legion for most tries scored in the league at 18.
NOLA Gold is coming off a heartbreaking loss to the San Diego Legion. The Gold were near the five-meter line and pushing as the game was about to end, but couldn’t get the try to win. They lost that matchup 25-21. That loss dropped the Gold to 2-2 on the season.
Meanwhile the Free Jacks are coming off a 44-29 loss to the defending champion Seattle Seawolves.
The Free Jacks spread the ball around with 12 different players all touching down tries for them. They are also liable to get a line-break having tallied 21 already on the season, tied for first in the league with the Toronto Arrows.
The Gold will certainly look to play a cleaner game. They’ve had to play the most time with a player in the sin bin with seven yellow cards, the most in the league.
One area the Gold have dominated so far is in their scrums, winning 95% of the scrums they’ve been awarded, the second-best total in the league.
The Gold have also avoided mistakes on offense having the fewest handling errors among MLR teams with 44.
The Gold as always will look for a strong performance out of eight man Cam Dolan. Dolan is a constant so far this year having played all 320 minutes for the Gold, with center Con Foley and fullback Robbie Coleman the only other members of the Gold to do so.
The Gold will need to pay attention to Free Jacks fullback Mitch Wilson. Wilson leads the Free Jacks in meters gained with 254 and has had two tries and four line breaks on the year, tied for the highest on the team.
After the battle against the Free Jacks, the Gold hit the road to take on the Utah Warriors, March 13 at 8 p.m.
