NOLA Gold is proud to partner with local artist Becky Fos for our 2023 City Edition jerseys. An “Ambassador of Color”, Fos imbues vibrant tones into her work, which seeks to reflect the identity and soul of the gulf south — particularly with respect to the natural world and its sometimes-scaly inhabitants.
These themes are displayed in her painting Golden Girl, which provides the body of content for the jerseys. The painting features a cheeky alligator giving a wayward glance to the spectator, cast in golden shades that reflect the vitality and spirit of New Orleans. Intricate layering of color and medium gives the impression of depth and texture in the painting; matched with the rubber-gripped texture of an MLR jersey, Golden Girl’s alligator seems to come to life, ready to snap a rugby ball out of the air.
NOLA’s 2023 City Edition jerseys are available for auction until halftime of April 30th’s game against the Toronto Arrows; winners will be able to take home their jersey directly from the game.
