The New Orleans Rugby Football Club was established in 1973. Since the team’s creation, they have become a stand-out for U.S.
rugby in the Deep South, creating an outstanding example both on and off the pitch. As one of the teams in the U.S. joining
the upcoming professional Major League Rugby organization, NOLA Gold enters its next measure of competition at the highest
New Orleans Rugby Football Club has obtained multiple championship banners. NORFC won the USA Rugby South Division II Deep
South Pool in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. In 2011, NORFC fielded a 2nd XV in the DIII competition. This team won the Deep
South Pool and advanced to the South Finals. New Orleans won the 2011 DII Club Rugby National Championship, defeating defending
champions Tampa Krewe. In 2012, New Orleans DI side won the South union. The DIII side went 22-0 and won the USA Rugby
DIII National Championship. The DIII side has since been promoted to DII.
NOLA Gold will bring professional rugby to New Orleans and be the pinnacle of the sport in the American South East. We will
develop local, national, and international talent to a world-class level of play and professionalism. We will deliver an
exciting on-field product and great fan experience. All while providing an aspirational destination for young rugby athletes
and rugby fans.
Growing the game of rugby is integral to our mission. We will partner with clubs throughout the Deep South in order to lead
and expand the work of developing rugby in the region. Through the NOLA Gold Foundation, in cooperation with Louisiana
Rugby, will aim to create a partnership that will introduce and develop youth rugby in the region.
Rugby has tremendous power to effect change in young people’s lives. The NOLA Gold Foundation will also integrate an outreach
program for at-risk youth; providing them a positive integration and opportunity through rugby.
